Jim Barber contacted me to learn more about one of the national programs for residential design which I helped develop. The CAPS program was a joint project with the AARP and the Remodelers Council of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) during the time I was the National Chairman of the Board of Directors. He was interested in the efficacy of the program and subsequently became certified by it. As we became acquainted, I was impressed by his concern for accuracy in estimating, soundness of plans and his command of excellent communication skills, (The Big Three). These are possibly the three most important aspects of a successful project and a satisfied client. I was a successful contractor in several fields of construction but favored residential design/build.
